Plage du Midi, a pretty french beach along the French Riviera, was the inspiration for this sunny and happy painting.

I’m obsessed with light, and how different it is in different parts of the world. Or, at least, how different I perceive it to be. For instance, the light in southern England was beautiful, and the light farther north (a lot farther) in Edinburgh, on sunny days, was extraordinary as it reflected off the Georgian buildings of the New Town, where we lived.

Back in the US and near the Long Island Sound, I find that the light and colors are very different, and that light reflecting off the sea has it’s own, very special kind of magic, and I love it.

So wherever you are, observe the light, and how it makes you feel. Is it different than other places you have been? I bet it is.
